On Friday, our Matric Class of 2026 gathered for a moment that will remain etched in their hearts long after their final exams are written — a beautiful and prayerful Matric Mass at Corpus Christi Parish. The Mass was celebrated by our Vicar for Education, Fr Shaun Addinall, who encouraged our students to approach their final year with courage, integrity, and deep trust in God’s guidance.
The Matric year is often described as a milestone — a bridge between school and the wider world. It carries excitement and anticipation, but also pressure and uncertainty. Bringing our Matric students together in faith at the start of this significant year was a powerful reminder that they do not walk this journey alone. In placing their year before the Lord, they acknowledged that their talents, ambitions, and challenges are all part of a greater story unfolding in God’s time.
We are sincerely grateful to Dominican School for Deaf Children and Immaculata High School for hosting alongside us and for their partnership in making this gathering both meaningful and memorable. The collaboration between our schools reflects the strength of our shared mission in Catholic education — to nurture not only academic excellence, but faith-filled, compassionate young adults ready to serve the world.
Following the celebration of the Eucharist, our Matric students had the opportunity to enjoy refreshments and engage in activities designed to help them connect with peers from other schools. The laughter, conversations, and new friendships that emerged were a testament to the unity and spirit among the Class of 2026. In those moments of mingling and joy, it became clear that this year is not simply about individual achievement, but about shared growth and mutual encouragement.
As they embark on their final year of school, we pray that our Matrics will embrace every opportunity for growth — academically, spiritually, and personally. May they face challenges with resilience, remain focused in their studies, and continue to lead with kindness and integrity. Above all, may they remember that their worth is not measured solely by results, but by the character they build and the lives they touch.
To the Class of 2026: step forward with confidence. Trust in your preparation. Lean on your faith. This is your year to rise, to persevere, and to become the leaders you are called to be.
